Back from Dreamforce!

Dreamforce is behind us for another year, and I (Joni) have to say: it was my best Dreamforce yet. Dreamforce was a whirlwind of awesome innovation, inspiration, and connection, and the NIM team definitely enjoyed every second of it. Some of our highlights include: INNOVATION:

LIGHTNING!!!! Lightning deserves all caps. Lightning deserves a dance of joy. Lightning is here and it makes my face crack into a wide smile. Check out the global preview, shared with User Groups on August 25. Innovation has a hashtag and it's #lightning.

The Nonprofit Track at Dreamforce had 40+ sessions covering everything from becoming a "Connected Nonprofit", fundraising, program and case management, NPO marketing & communications, and community engagement. Everywhere you turned, there were nonprofits sharing their stories of innovation - stories of change in their world. Innovation in nonprofits has a twitter handle, too, and it's @SFDCFoundation.

The Girlforce@Dreamforce Event - Now IT Matters was a proud sponsor for the Girlforce event at Dreamforce that drew around 200 people in! It was a great time to get inspired about the work that we do every day with nonprofits. I shared a bit of my story with the attendees and then challenged them to share their story and use their story to build vulnerable, authentic communities. Tim and Justin got to represent Now IT Matters in the drawing for Certification Exams (pictured below). All in all, we gave away 20 Salesforce certification exams, drank at least 15 gallons of coffee, and hugged dozens of our cohorts in this work. Our inspiration meter was definitely on high by the end of the 2 hours event!

Inspiration could also be found in spades at the Mindfulness Keynote where Goldie Hawn, Donna Karan, Jack Kornfield and others offered insights to happiness, fulfillment, contentment... you know, all the secrets to life! You can check out the mindfulness keynotes that were recorded here!

Every year at Dreamforce, there's a theme for me, and this year's theme was definitely connection. Nearly all of my time was spent connecting with this community who has become more than colleagues or acquaintances. One of my favorite things about the Salesforce nonprofit community is exactly that: we are a community. So many incredible friends to catch up with, so many inspiring stories to hear, so many steps made toward progress and solving the world's problems. This is what Dreamforce is, for me: a year's worth of hope in a week's time. It was amazing to talk to Matt Scott at Team Rubicon, and Kylee Durant at Rally Point 6 about organizations making a huge difference in our veteran community. I was totally blown away by how much healing and help is going out to our Vets through organizations like these. There are a thousand stories like these in the connections I made during Dreamforce and I came away on cloud 9, excited about technology advancing the missions of these organizations! AND, one of my personal highlights was when the Foundation put a mic in my hand and let me speak about the power of authentic storytelling to build strong communities. If it appears on video, we'll be sure to let you know!!

If you haven't been to a Dreamforce yet, consider starting the process today to convince your organization to send you! There were too many highlights to mention, but believe me when I say it's worth it's weight in hope. Next year, it will be October 4-7 and we hope to see you there!!![/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
